Devon Live: The success of the Portas Town scheme to revive the High Street has been criticised with almost 1,000 shops closing – but social media could be the answer.

Without doubt digital is a footfall driver – its a modern business tool that needs using by high street businesses if they want to maintain or increase their footfall. “If you don’t ask you don’t get” is very relevant today. Customers are making decisions online – if retailers don’t engage them there, they are less likely to come into the store. Every town is becoming the sum of its digital parts, it’s vital that retailers up their digital output”.
